Taxes and 1099-K

TapInfluence began paying influencers via PayPal in 2014. This means your influencer payments from TapInfluence now fall under 1099-K rules, not 1099-Misc rules as they previously had.

PayPal will send you a 1099-K, if in a single year you receive:

  • More than $20,000 AND
  • 200 or more payments.

If you do not meet both of the requirements you will not receive a 1099-K from PayPal.

In order to see what payments you did receive, you can log into PayPal and look at the options under history/reports. When you receive payments from us, each payment will contain a comment that will tell you what post you are being paid for.
